FIELD MANUAL · HOI4 1.19.3

How to use HOI4 War Planner

Start with the fight you want to understand. Build both divisions, match the assumptions you care about, then change one thing and see what moves.

Recreate the matchup

Division Lab is where most tests should start. Build your division and the enemy division, then set the tech, doctrine, MIO, equipment and battlefield assumptions you actually want to compare.

Try a counter

Counter Analysis is for one specific opponent. It tests focused template changes against that target and shows the modeled improvement. Recommendations also show the direct IC cost per division, so you can see what the stronger template costs without the site pretending to know your live factory situation.

Build the equipment

Use the Tank Designer or Air Lab when the equipment itself is the question. For cleaner tests, keep the opponent and scenario fixed and change one major part at a time.

Run Gauntlet when one matchup is not enough

Division Gauntlet looks for blind spots by testing 10,000 deterministic opponents across eight terrain types while attacking and defending, for 160,000 matchup checks.

What the evidence labels mean

Game-file exact comes directly from the retained 1.19.3 files. Executable inferred is behavior supported by evidence but not fully proven from the data files alone. Planner analytical is the site's own comparison, scoring or generated test layer.

The planner does not claim bit-for-bit parity with hoi4.exe.
